Two hundred and thirty-one years ago, July 4, 1776, our Country proclaimed its freedom from England and tomorrow we celebrate this event and I thought it fitting to post two family stories about our Country’s conflicts.
The first, “Fire Fight”, is about my 5G Grandfather, William Murrill, and an action he was involved in during our Revolutionary War. This was passed down through the family and recorded in the diary of a 3G Uncle of mine, James Buckner “Buck” Barry, and later copyrighted and published in “Buck Barry, Texas Ranger And Frontiersman”. I have used family history and this book as my references.
My son, MSgt (then SFC), Brad Bryan, with sucker in mouth, and 2 Iraqui boys. You gotta' love our troopers! I wonder why we never see these kind of pictures in our media?
The second story, “Contact East!”, is about an action in Iraq, written by Brad. He was the NCO in charge of this scrape. I’m trying to get him to record the rest of the events he was involved in during his tour there.
Both stories will be posted tomorrow morning, around 8:00 AM.
